Bungower house
In this cherished family home on the Mornington Peninsula, a collection of treasured indigenous artwork served as the focal point for the interior design. Surrounded by an expansive landscape of large eucalyptus and lemon-scented gum trees, the clients sought to refresh their home to better accommodate their role as active hosts for family gatherings and celebrations, now that they are empty nesters.
NCS Interiors was commissioned to redesign the bathroom and ensuite, as well as to furnish and style the living and dining areas. The design approach was attuned to the home's earthy character, skilfully integrating the raw texture of exposed brick with the rich, warm patina of existing slate flooring.
The most striking transformation is the living room, where a thoughtful layering of forms, colors, and textiles paid tribute to indigenous art and artifacts from outback Australia. Bark paintings, fiber works, and Yidaki (Didgeridoos) infuse the space with authenticity and originality, creating a harmonious blend of practicality, livability, and beauty.
‘Nerida, well done to you for all your work in the design phase for the bathroom, ensuite and living areas and for your professionalism as you saw the process through.
Also a big thank you again for all the guidance and assistance you gave us to purchase our lovely furniture pieces and the very special decorator items.
You have created, using our new pieces together with our existing pieces, both gorgeous and relaxing but also stimulating spaces in our home that we do and can enjoy for much time to come’. —Client
